Everything Here Is Measured in Episodes

The first thing to settle is that a short drama is not counted in seasons. The definition on the record is narrow, covering vertical 9:16 series assembled from episodes of one to two minutes, usually 20 to 100 episodes per story. In TheWrap’s account, Western-made episodes land in an even tighter band, 60 to 100 seconds apiece. Whether you mean a single episode or the whole story therefore settles the answer completely. A full series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. A single episode is shorter than most pop songs. Every reelshort movies total run time in this piece is my own multiplication of a published episode count by that published episode-length range. A total run time is published by no app I checked, which means nobody can hand you one.

The Counts Run From 30 to 100

What swings wildly is the count, not the episode length, which barely moves between titles. The twelve series I could check against an official app page run from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. With 30, GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen is the short one, close to the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. The long one is GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return at 100, resting precisely on the ceiling. Everything between those poles comes from ReelShort, which gives The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. Married at First Sight stands at 89 on its ReelShort movie page, though over on GoodShort, Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter shows 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out shows 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia shows 86. Added together, all twelve come to 816 episodes, an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. The finding that matters is the clustering: most short series cluster in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions.

Why Some Counts Deserve an Asterisk

Whoever quotes an episode count should name the page it came from, as episode counts are slipperier than they look. The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband shows 60 on its own official page, while third-party listings for the same show give 49 and 120, and neither of those belongs near a calculation. Married at First Sight shows the same problem inside a single site, where the movie page reports 89 episodes and another page for the same series reports 90. The one-episode gap is trivial for a viewer and fatal for anyone claiming precision. Two of the counts above, True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, are explicitly flagged as including the trailer, so in each case the story proper is one episode shorter. I have left the published figure alone rather than quietly subtracting, because quietly adjusting a number is how bad data spreads. Every count is a label attached to one page on one date, not a permanent property of the show.

The Sum, Stated Plainly

Here, so you can redo it or reject it, is the whole method. Multiply the published episode count by one minute for the floor and by two minutes for the ceiling, and a range falls out. For a 60-episode series that comes to 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours. For the 100-episode Dragon King’s Return it gives 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. If a show was made in the West, TheWrap’s 60-to-100-second band narrows things: the same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. No figure here comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none accounts for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. They remain estimates built on two published numbers, and showing the working beats faking a precision the sources do not support.

Twelve Documented Series, Timed Out

The table below runs that multiplication on every title above. The episode counts come from each show’s own app page; the run times are mine. Read every range as a floor and a ceiling, not a prediction, since real episodes land somewhere inside it. Because the format definition is the same on both, the platform column matters less than people assume.

Series Platform Episodes Estimated total run time (my calculation)
My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen GoodShort 30 30–60 min
Not the Bride He Wanted ReelShort 57 57 to 114 min
The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband ReelShort 60 60 to 120 min
True Luna ReelShort 61 including the trailer 61 to 122 min
Love on the Sidelines ReelShort 64 64 to 128 min
Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter GoodShort 64 64–128 min
Three Strikes, Dad’s Out GoodShort 65 65–130 min
Fated to the Alpha ReelShort 70 70–140 min
Breaking the Ice ReelShort 70 including the trailer 70–140 min
Kidnapped by the Mafia GoodShort 86 86 to 172 min
Married at First Sight ReelShort 89 as the movie page has it 89 to 178 min
The Dragon King’s Return GoodShort 100 100–200 min

Two things are hard to miss in that last column. Only a single title in twelve could fill a single hour and stop, and only a single one could stretch past three hours. Everything else is a two-hour film’s worth of story handed over in sixty-odd pieces.

What a Binge Actually Costs in Time

The easy part of the calculation is pure run time, which is also the misleading part. A 60-episode short drama at 60 to 120 minutes fills a single evening, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. All twelve titles together come to 816 episodes, and the same multiplication turns that into roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. Left out of that total is everything between the episodes. The free opening episodes do not last long, after which every unlock is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, with ReelShort’s own blog saying one ad unlocks two premium episodes. Fifty paid episodes therefore comes to twenty-five ads, and because no company publishes how long those ads run, I will not invent a number. Watch short dramas online at a steady pace and the real evening usually runs longer than the arithmetic says. If you would rather buy your way past the interruptions, a weekly pass costs about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.

How Two Minutes Shapes the Writing

Here, length is not just a stat but the script’s structure itself. When an episode runs 60 to 100 seconds, the writer gets room for roughly one beat and one reversal, and that reversal has to land on the final shot. It is why a hook lands before you have settled and why cliffhangers feel relentless rather than occasional. TheWrap reports $150,000 to $300,000 per series and shoots of eight to ten days, so production is working to that same clock. A ten-day shoot that has to yield seventy of them leaves nobody room for leisurely scenes. The paywall is another piece of the same shape, because the first eight to ten episodes are usually free, with ReelShort’s blog giving five to fifteen, putting the first real decision point about ten minutes in. A 64-episode show such as Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter therefore has to seed a betrayal, a reversal and a payoff inside about the run time of one film, chopped into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.

Picking a Series by Its Length

Once the numbers make sense, picking becomes practical rather than guesswork. If you want a single sitting and a clean finish, look for counts in the thirties, which My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen demonstrates at 30 episodes. If you want something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot, and that is where most short dramas sit anyway. A count near 100 signals more subplots, and a bill that grows in step. Before you start, check the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing, because a gap between 49 and 120 for one title is exactly the error that ruins a plan. Do the multiplication yourself after that, since it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. Knowing how long a short series will really hold you comes down to exactly that.
